I'm pretty sure that's from a nursery rhyme/song...something about : selling cockles, and mussles..
OK, just looked it up. . . .
In Dublin's Fair City, Where the girls are so pretty, I first set my eyes on sweet Molly Malone. As she wheeled her wheelbarrow, Through streets broad and narrow, Crying "Cockles and Mussels, Alive Alive O! Alive Alive O! Alive Alive O! Crying "Cockles and Mussels, Alive Alive O!"
Alrighty - back to business....
I am not only ALIVE, ALIVE O, after completing the annual death march-
I'm doing very well, thank you very much!
I am happy to say that not only did I not die, I completed a 6 mile hike all above 9500 feet altitude with no apparent ill side effects. For those of you who know me - that IS something!
Initially we were planning to hike into Alice lake in the Sawtooth range, which is about a 6 mile hike in - packs on back :0(
But, decided that as we would only have 3 days we would go to 4th of July lake, which is a 1 1/2 mile hike in...Much better right?!?

We got to the lake well before noon, made camp, ate lunch and set out to see Washington lake which was another mile up the trail.

We were right at 10,000 feet. We had to go down, down, down and then up, up, up. The Lakes were right at the base of those rocky peaks.
Yeah....It ended up being about 6 miles round trip and I did NOT get sick! I got into the lake to cool off, drank TONS of liquids, and ate one of those energy gel pack thingys and we cruised.
Can you tell I am just amazed with myself?
Cause - I am.

It was crazy beautiful. And yes, I took lots of pictures....

All over the place!

Such delicate off-white with the base of lavender all facing only one way.

Very distinctive.

The only drawback to all the lovely flowers was that the water that made them possible also made HORDES of mosquitoes possible as well.

Wow, Chuck's gears are taller than him. Karen you looked so cute with the mosquitoes mask. I've never done backpacking but that's great that you can hike 6 miles in the high attitudes. Kids and I shall try backpacking soon before the summer ends.
Love the mosquito gear. That IS about the only way to avoid them. Beautiful flower shots. Glad you survived with out ill effects. I think you will have to take Tucker along on your death march some year since he is now into hiking. It sounds like it was a nice adventure for a change.
Hey, are you following me? That's where we were for high adventure last year, and your death march last year was where we went two years ago. We are planning to hike to Sawtooth Lake this year if you want to start planning for next summer:) Glad to see you didn't get snowed on like we did. On the bright side, it did keep the bugs away.
You guys are so adventerous. Those packs look heavy! Glad to hear you didn't get sick or anything this time!
Bri
As always I'm super jealous of what you got to see.. but not so much of lugging a giant pack.
I need a llama and I might be able to make it!
That shot of the moon over the lake is so cool. It must have been amazing in person
As always I am impressed! You are in better shape than I am!
You are such a trooper! I am pretty sure I would have complained the WHOLE time! Love the pics! So glad we were able to see you this summer!
You ARE a trooper! Those flowers are worth it....I guess ;)
Now I totally understand the conversation going on between you and Aaron...was confused at first...heehee.
Let me know when you're over in Boise...I'll fix you dinner or something :)
