Graduation!

Saturday was a big day for Drew, Alicia and Korven. And Korven pretty much slept through it all. Well, the times I saw him he was sleeping. Through happy throngs of graduates, those crazy loud honkers, being taken out of his blanket for photos, and in a noisy crowded restaurant ...Sleeping, sleeping, and more sleeping. The graduation was relatively short for so many people and there were actually a fair amount of people we knew who were graduating The only thing that was tricky was that they didn't go in any kind of alphabetical order, just each college and then it was anybody's guess as to who would be up when. But, we were able to figure out when Alicia and Drew were coming up by watching the big screen pretty closely. It was a big day for them. Now, they get to relax for a bit, get used to the new arrival and figure out how they're going to get to North Carolina where Drew is going for a year for some advanced training in dosimetry. What the heck is that you say? Well that's what I said the first time I heard it. Here you go... do·sim·e·try
1.the process or method of measuring the dosage of ionizing radiation.
2.the measurement of the doses of medicines.
Yeah. He wants to specialize in the use of radiation for cancer patients and he got selected out of several hundred applicants for their program. The schooling is free. The living expenses are not. So, it will be an adventure for them. Now they just have to decide what all they will be taking with them and what to leave in storage. They'll be there for a year and someplace else for probably another two before he actually starts practicing, working, whatever you want to call being gainfully employed full time in his chosen profession. It's an exciting time for them. It was a good day.

I meant to make a nice little post on Sunday about the graduation and for Mother's day. But, it was one of those crazy. hectic days. I got up early for church, taught the lesson in RS, we came home for a couple of hours, went to dinner at Rashid's place. The family is from Jerusalem and had fixed an enormous traditional meal of falafel and other tasty treats. Then we came home just in time to pick up the lesson manual for Chuck to go and teach a temple prep class for the single adults. We got home pretty much in time to get ready for work the next day and hit the hay. Nice relaxing sabbath eh?
So far the school week has been slightly less hectic than last but not by much. Field trip with students to ISU, playing catch up from the art shows, writing letters of recommendation, reporting a stolen camera (I hadn't even gotten the school identification tag on it yet it was so new) You know the regular stuff...
Let's see, my gripe for the day? Apparently all of a sudden my running shoes are too small (I've had them for over 6 months) in the last week or so my crazy long second toe is smashing up against the end of my shoe and the toenails are turning black and hurt like crazy. Nice. So, now I need to go get some shoes a half size larger.
My best moment of the day? Seeing the series of pictures Kelsey posted of Leyla and Chloe with juice. It still makes me smile just thinking of those two playing around on the floor. Aren't little children the best!?!

I'm glad my little girls could make your day a little brighter.

Dosimetry huh? There are so many fields of study out there now. That is cool that he got selected out of that many. Congrats to Drew. What a cute little bean Korven is. He is sooo tiny. What an exciting time for them both in their lives. As for your Sunday, sounds like business for you as usual. I don't know how you manage it all. You never cease to amaze me.
