Tyson aka Hector Scout

One score and 6 years ago, on this day, a certain mother brought forth a googly eyed, great natured baby in the state of Washington and it was good.
Yep. It's Tyson's birthday. So I thought perhaps I should post a couple of classic photos. Hmmm...let's start with the googly eyed phase. Tyson was a long and skinny 9lb 1oz. baby with huge eyes. He soon got some awesome cheeks to go along with his gorgeous, enormous peepers. He had a very sunny disposition and was a cuddly little guy. When he was little he had a cute little blondish, bald head thing going, and so with his googly eyes there is photographic evidence to support his early claim to fame as an Uncle Festor look alike (check out the early Addams family show).
He was pretty hyper when he was awake, but needed a LOT of sleep. I had to enroll him in morning kindergarten because he still needed to come home and take a nap. (Kelsey on the other hand stopped taking regular naps by the time she was 18 months). He still likes (requires?) a lot of sleep. But, the hyper thing he pretty much grew out of.
He has always liked crazy attire and long before it was fashionable he liked to shop at thrift stores (maybe a left over from when that was pretty much the only place we could afford to shop?)
Tyson has always been kind, thoughtful, and loving. He has a big heart and a goofy sense of humor. He literally climbed the walls when he was young and now he likes to climb rocks. He is loyal, and fun loving and smart. He is so laid back that at times it's hard to get him off a couch. He is a great listener, smart and patient. Whenever I needed something assembled (shelves, etc.) he had the patience and ability to read, understand and follow through to completion. I'm sure those skills will come in handy in his chosen profession in computer science.
Tyson currently has most of the same attributes he had as a child. He is kind, patient, goofy, loyal, tenderhearted (though perhaps it's not exactly "manly" to say that) smart and doesn't care what others think about what he wears or how he does or doesn''t comb his hair. He hates to shave and still loves to sleep. He can eat a pound of bacon at one sitting if no one stops him. He loves Homestar runner and a wide variety of music. He never minded being seen in public with his ole mom and before he left home would happily accompany me to stores, movies, plays or wherever. He is a good listener and talker and did a fantastic job finding a companion.
Tyson, you are the sweetest, goofyiest, funnest person and I love you! Happy Birthday son.
I would love to hear any good Tyson memories and I'm sure he would LOVE to be roasted.... I'm sure Chuck could bring up the winter camping trip or.....

My earliest Tyson memory is being asked if he was my baby. (i was 16 so I suppose it was possible) But at the time I was not thrilled.
He was a charmer baby as I recall.

Hmmmmm the next main thing that really sticks out is the Tyson who refused to shower...somewhere in the 10-12 age range. Remember?
That was a good time.

I like a guy who wears what he wants and isn't influenced by social pressure.
Thats being comfortable with yourself.
Happy birthday!

Oh I remember the no showering phase Oh so well! Culminating in a showdown in the bathroom... He went from that to showering so long we would run out of hot water. Good times indeed.

one word: boogers.

Whoa! I was not aware of the boogers...? Is this a story that will cancel out all that sweet stuff I was saying?

How about the nightly streaker/flasher running through the house in Tukwila when he was about 2? The boys would have a bath and you'd wrap them up in towels. Tyson would promptly drop his an start runnin the circle that went from the hall through the kitchen into the living room back to the hall--endlessly or at least until he was worn out our you insisted that he go to bed. He was uninhibited and totally loving life as he would run and run and run! Fun times.
