It is So gorgeous outside right now! The snowflakes are so big, it looks like there are big chunks of quilt batting falling from the sky! I took a couple of pics so hopefully you can get at least a little idea of what it looks like out there. I LOVE IT! It is perfect snowman snow and if I were able to move about I would be tempted to rustle one up. However, I am quite sore today and will not be making snowmen or pretty much anything else for a while yet I'm afraid. The last thing I want to do is to "overdo" and undo what the surgeon tried to accomplish. So, although patience is not up there on my list of personal virtues, I am determined to put it to the test.
I have watched a couple of movies, an episode of "Pushing Daisies" that Chuck recorded for me and have read a rather eerie Dean Koontz book Chuck got me while we were waiting for my surgery on Monday. I have also sent off a few more Christmas cards that I had been waiting for address for - I always manage to misplace one or two from one year to the next. I was excited to see that a few people that I hear from at Christmas time have started blogs, so now I can keep a bit more current with them other than at Christmas time! I can't believe how much I enjoy reading them. Perhaps I'm a bit voyueristic (is that how that's spelled?) but whatever the case, I love seeing my grandbabies, siblings, my neices & nephews and their babies, my friends, friends of friends etc.
I have to say that Jenette is one of my favorite blog writers. She has such a way with words and is dang funny too! I think she could definitely pursue something in literature. Or at least continue to entertain me with her delightful insights and observations. My two blogging sisters are no slouches in the entertainment department either. Of course, I love to see pics of the grandbabies that are so far away. It makes them seem just a bit closer. though it makes me want to hold em too... So, yeah, I DO love this aspect of the internet.

On another note, I am sad to report that today we lost one of our fish. It was a pretty little golden gourame that we have had for at least 5 years. I have had a fish tank ever since we moved to Idaho and we have gone through a LOT of fish. We are on our 3rd "Uncle Albert" fish.
An Uncle Albert fish, is commonly known as a green severeum (not exactly sure on the spelling of that either) but to anyone in my family they are known as that because the very first one we had got quite large and when I cleaned the tank I got the water down low enough that he was scraping along the bottom of the tank and took off some of his scales. I said" I'm so sorry... " and the song (is it a Beatles one?) came into mind and I just finished with Uncle Albert. The name stuck and as I said we are on our 3rd uncle Albert. They are quite pretty and live quite a while. The current Albert is at least 7, possibly 8 years old. The rest of the fish in the tank are anywhere from 4 to 8 years old as well. They have to be tough fish to survive in my house.
I remember well, the 1st year that the kids went to spend Christmas with their dad in Colorado. My youngest sister and I had stayed up late on Christmas eve and watched movies. I got up the next morning and we heard this "pop" . I went out to investigate, and found water gushing out of the sides of the fish tank. Apparently, on "occasion" the seal will break on a tank and my had chosen Christmas morn to do just that. We hurriedly scrambled to scoop the fish out before the persihed and installed them in a bucket, where they remained until the next day when we braved the after Christmas throngs to purchase a new tank. Ahh yeah, those were the days. The fish all survived- much better than the books that were in the case that the tank sat on.
Anyway, I am sad to see the little golden gourame go, it seems like when one goes there will be others to follow. Kind of like messing with karma or something.
Well. that's about enough babbling for now.

Oh my goodness. Thank you so much for saying that about my writing!! You don't know how perfect your timing is. I needed that. I love reading your blog too! You always make me laugh. I love you Karen and you hold off on making a snowman until you are healed up. You should make the hubby build one outside the big picture window in your front room. You could have walkie talkies and he could order him around...no make the head bigger! :)
That is what I miss about being in Seattle!! Snow is such a rare thing. I do love it when they are big huge flakes. When it does snow that is generally how it comes. I love the way that it makes everything quiet. It's like the world gets covered in a quilt. It's sad about the fish. The fish at Aunt Karen's are actually a favorite memory of the boys because for several summers in a row you would take them out to buy fish and thye got to name them. They would usually remember the name from one year to the next too (I never did). I don't remember their names or if any of them are even alive, but I bet next time we are at your house the kids will be positive that their fish are still in your tank. And they will probably remember the names!
Oh, I sooo remember that Christmas. In fact, I thought the "uncle Albert" name came from that specific incident.
I live vicariously through your tank.
I agree that miss Oscar is a fabulous writer. Funny, insightful, witty.
You have similar qualities in your writing, if only you weren't always so devilishly pressed for breathing time.
Take care of yourself and that hammock.
