Bathtub Project

We have been "going to" work on the bathroom for at least 5 years.
(I bought the tile when Chuck was in Iraq. So I know it's been at least that long.)From this shot it doesn't look "too" bad.
The tub and tiles had been "resurfaced" at some point
and the white surface would no longer come clean no matter what I did to it.

There was water damage on the floor.

And it had started to leak around the faucet.

So.
I came home two weeks ago when Chuck had the day off
and he had yanked the tub.

Here's the plumbing Chuck put in.
Reminds me of a submarine periscope.
You can see some of the water damage to the floor area.
Getting the tub in without taking the toilet out was a real juggling act.
It's a pretty snug fit and even though it's not a cast iron tub it got heavy.
By the time we finagled it around and got it in my back was killing me!
Chuck got to work every night and got the wall board up in no time.

Then while I was at YW last week he started on the first set of tiles.

Then...

Four rows up!
Then came the decorative tiles.

And tonight I got the last row up!
Now for the grouting in 48 hours - or so...

Is it just me or is there a little argyle look to it?

Well I can see the Argyle inspirations...but from the pictures it just looks nice, not Bay City Rollers red kilt and haggis Argyle at all.

That will be so nice when you are done!
I'm jealous. I would love to do such an overhaul in my bathroom here. Don't need a new tub.. but the shower surround... grr?

Always a project at your house.

Hope your back has completely recovered.

Wow, the new bathtub looks so nice. We had a leaking faucet for a year and finally got out of control. Our home teacher who is a constructor came over and spent 4 hours fixing it. We are very grateful for his service. Chuck sure is doing a great job. We are thinking to remodeling our bathrooms, want to come help or teach us?

Enjoy your new bathtub. Nice job.

I love it. It's something I would like to do also. My downstairs tub/shower combo is some cheapo plastic thing. Don't think it will happen until the kids are gone though.

I'm still waiting for my downstairs bathroom to be put back together. I thought Gitte's visit my give some impetus to the project but no, the roof is still off and the floor is just concrete. So nice your "handyman" gets the job done quickly once he starts!!
