Busy week...

A little catch up...
We had a lovely Thanksgiving day. We stopped and picked up gramma B who was excitedly waiting for us all dressed and waiting in her wheelchair for the short drive to Shirley's house for dinner. She looked frail but good even with the oxygen tank on the back of her chair. She seemed pretty aware and coherent and we were able to transfer her easily from chair to car - she only weighed about 90 pounds. At Shirely's she sat at the table and spoke when spoken to, ate slowly, but really well. She seemed a little dreamy or distracted but roused herself when directly addressed. She was there with us for almost two hours and then got tired and so we took her home.
She went to sleep soon after we got her into bed. And from what Shirley said she was mostly unaware of her surrounding for the next several days until she passed away peacefully on Wed. the 4th. She had turned 94 a few days before on the 28th.

I am so grateful that we got to spend some time with her on Thanksgiving. I know how much she loved family meals. Many of my favorite memories of her are at family gatherings. You never knew what gramma was going to say, but you could count on it being entertaining, honest and forthright. She was a hardworking, animated, fiesty and lovley woman whom I admired immensely. And boy could she cook! She had a long and happy marriage 60+ years, and had missed her husband, Albert terribly. He passed away about 9(?) years ago just about this time of year. I loved her and will miss her. She was one of a kind - in the really good way.

I only met her once maybe twice but she made a lasting impression on me. She had a sharp wit and a great sense of humor. I am glad she went peacefully.

Oh, I don't know how I missed this post and pictures.

You know how I remember Grandma B.
What spunk.

"So Whatever" (:

I'm sure Shirley especially will miss her.
