So. . .
Today I decided to try out the pen tool in PS.
I came up with this graphic quail head. I kinda liked the way it turned out.

So, then I copied it and flipped it and look how cool it looks!
Like a fun frontal view.

And then... I made a pattern out of it.

Then I had to stop and get back to work...

No idea how that is possible with the pen tool. Do you have one of those drawing pads?
Very nice. The Quail profile is especially sweet. Did you draw all freehand. I just can't envision it.
The pen tool is the one in the tool box that uses "nodes" and it is pretty tricky to work with until you get the hang of it. Therefore I haven't messed with it much. It uses vector (math) to make smooth curves. (I scared you with the reference to math huh?) Illustrator is vector based and this was my timid foray into the math based artworld.
So, to answer sort of... It is not Painted or drawn - it's made with math based curves that are filled in with color/value. I can still go back and manipulate the image sections. Whereas with the brush/paint tool it is all made up of pixels and I would have to draw/paint or erase to change it.
That's pretty confusing huh...
Sorry. I'll try and talk to you about it next time we get to visit ok?
That is pretty cool. I am always impressed by my talented sisters. My good deed today was taking the day off to play golf with my husband for his birthday. How's that. Okay really, it was taking a couple bags of clothing to the church to donate to the Phillipines and/or Samoa. A member of our bishopric is married to a woman fromt he Phillipines and they are planning to send donations there to help out. that's two days in a row!
uhhgg.
I knew about the vector thing in Illustrator. It is the very reason I shy away from even THINKING of trying it.
No wonder the pen tool has held no interest! (:
Look forward to talking in person.
Wow! Toward the end it kinda looks like one of those picture they use in psychiatric evaluations. When they ask what do you see, I see 8 quails.
