Shenanigans...

Turns out I must be getting too old/tired for some of the things I used to love doing.

This last week was homecoming and it had all the accompanying dress up days, activities and class interruptions high school kids love. The first day was pirate day. Now I have had a pirate costume for at least 14 years (long before Jack Sparrow came on the scene and made it trendy). It is very much in the style of Captain Hook with ruffled shirt, vest, long coat, and silly hat. I also have some black boots, a plastic sword and an eye patch. I have worn all of the above (or parts thereof) many times in the past. It's not like I "forgot" the day, though that would have been a distinct possibility for me. I just got up and thought "Man, I don't want to go drag out the box , dig it out and wear that all day. I'll be hot flashing and cranky." So, I didn't.
I did wear a tye dye shirt on that day, and I dressed up in school colors on pride day (complete with red and blue feather boa that is a LOT hotter that it looks!). So, I did participate - a bit. I guess I'm not dead yet. But, I'm just in another phase . (Maturity? nah. I wouldn't go THAT far).

There are lot's of times I don't feel like going to all that trouble either. You did participate and I'm sure you have a reputation for being an awesome teacher.

You have always amazed me with the level of investment you were willing to go to with your students. The mall shows, the dressing up.
If it is age, then I hit it 10 years back.
Sometimes you just don't feel like.

Actually MOST times I just don't feel like it anymore.

I love dressing up too, but sometimes you are just not in the mood. I don't think it is an age thing, I think it is a timing thing. Sometimes you just don't feel like it.
