This is the table setting with the shrimp and salads.
Closeup of the food.
Notice the artfully arranged little shrimpy. I normally am so busy scarfing them down that there is no lag time from the bag to the mouth.
Magnificent restraint on my part.
We also had some chicken lasagna which I forgot to photo - so use your imagination.
And speaking of restraint... Strawberry cheesecake with chocolate sauce drizzled over it and extra whip cream on the side. I personally believe whip cream should be added to any cold dish.

The only problem with all this was that by the time I finally got a hold of Chuck on the phone he had just stopped for gas and eaten... Yeah. I had tried to call him several times and he didn't pick up as he was listening to an audio book. He promised that he would eat again when he got home in an hour. He did a decent job - what a guy. He kept asking what I was up to - like had I wrecked the car, was the sewer backed up... there had to be "some" reason I was being so nice. Apparently it's been too long since I've done something nice for him and he wasn't sure how to handle it.
He doesn't need to worry. It'll probably be ages before I actually manage to get my act together to do something like that again.

Nice gourmet chocolate drizzles there missy!
Looks like you had a yummy dinner and hopefully a nice homecoming. (after the suspicion died)
Great self control-- not so sure I would be able to pull it off with my un-dying love of shrimp and oooh that amazing chocolate drizzled whipped cream with a side of pie...well done my friend! well done. You are an amazing gal!
WOW, Karen! What a nice wife you are :) Your dinner looked delicious and beautiful! So...Chuck was over the Olympics? Did he have a blue and white scarf? My parents were here for Carter's birhday and they finally broke down and asked what was up with everyone in Boise wearing blue and white scarves...pretty weird if you didn't know the reason behind it....HA! You have the cutest, sweetest, most precious grandkids/ grandbabies!!Love all the pics. I love smoothies, too....eating them NOT so much the making them part. Sounds like you're ready to have a few "smooth" days ahead. Love reading your posts!!!
Wow mom, I am impressed. In addition to being aesthetically pleasing, your meals looks pretty tasty as well.

That looks really good. I'm glad to see there's still some romance left in the world. Great work Karen!
Wow what a woman. I think Dennis would also be suspicious if I did something like that. It all looks yummy. Whip cream is always good. I love smoothies too. I make yogurt ones in the morning and Cooper is always asking me to make them. We have a little mini blender that works perfectly for that. Fun times.
