Watercolor

So, today I was pretty much piddling around doing all sorts of small stuff and feeling a little frustrated because I wasn't "accomplishing" anything "substantial". But, I didn't really feel like taking on anything substantial. Celiac called to ask me a question and then at the end of the conversation she said "Why don't you go paint? I give you permission to go paint." I thought I really would like to start something, but then I'm going to be going on the death march (backpack trip) tomorrow and I would just get started and then get frustrated... And I had pretty much talked myself out of it.
Then I thought - What if I did something small? Something to just get back in the flow of painting? It's been at least 2 years since I've done any watercolor. So, I got out a little piece of watercolor paper (4 X7) that Emily had given to Celiac, then she gave to me because neither of them wanted to pack it back from Italy. So, I figured I have nothing to lose and I'm just going to go for it. The pic is what I came up with after about 45 minutes of playing around. I always think I'm going to be able to get loose and flowy - but I think I'd need to paint a "bit" more frequently than once every couple of years to get anywhere near "loose". Anyway, I thought it was ok, nothing spectacular. I think maybe if I keep it small for awhile I can experiment and be able to snatch some time on more of a regular basis. Anyway, it felt good to do something a little bit creative. (It actually isn't quite as vibrant as in the pic, but you get the gist).

It's beautiful!
I'm so glad you gave yourself that permission!! If little pics at time will get you going then that is the ticket.
You have my permission for tomorrow too.

What death march??? It is just a stretch of the legs. Anyway the Pic looks good, even if their are no deer or mountains in it.

That's what you get after just 45 minutes of painting....I would never get there! I think its lovely. It always feels good to do something you enjoy....maybe I'll go knit something instead of doing the dishes :)
