Much as I enjoyed all my travels and adventures (and I did!), it is so good to be home. We arrived home after the Vaden shindig up Wildhorse late Saturday afternoon. I was flea, mosquito and horse fly bitten from head to toe. The fleas were from the trip to the coast, the other two types were from Wildhorse. I have always reacted a lot to insect bites. The first time I remember being away from home was a stay with Grandma Hall when I was in 1st or 2nd grade? I slept on a covered porch and when I woke up in the morning I thought I had gone blind because mosquitoes had bitten me on the face and my eyes had swelled shut. Good times.
Anyway, the flea and mosquito bites were just annoying. But the one horse bite was a bit out of control. It is on my calf, and by the time we got home it had turned bright red, swelled and inflamed to a good 6 inch circumference and was rock hard. I thought "Great, I'm probably going to have to have this baby lanced or something drastic". I took some Benedryl and put some ice on it , laid down while visions of horse flies crawling out of my flesh and other nonsense was dancing around in my head. See why I don't watch scary movies? Anyway, after another day it finally started to slowly recede.
Well, that was a charming little tale eh? What I actually started this post for was to put some pics on for Kelsey to see the color I painted the three walls of the basement yesterday and the nifty little movie shelving I came up with for my under stairs area.
When I got home from Italy I found out that Chuck had had the carpet repaired in the basement. I was thrilled as I was going to do that when I got home. Instead he had moved all the stuff out from under the stairs (where they took the carpet to patch the part where the old stairs had been - confused yet?) Anyway, everything was out of the computer area and from under the stairs and he hadn't put it back yet. That was good because I needed to paint it and I wanted to go through and get rid of some things and organize. . . . So, with no further ado I will post some pics of the new blue (blue blankie is the exact name on the swatch) and the shelving. I also taught myself to use the angle saw and cut molding and used the air stapler to tack it on for the room as it hadn't had any before. Lots of fun stuff. Oh yeah, the pics....
The blue wall in the picture looks a little more intense than it really is - but its definitely not just off white like I normally choose. (note the white molding at the bottom of the pic.)
Ok, admit it. You're relieved I didn't post a pic of my big, nasty, horsefly bitten red leg. Thought I'd give you a break and just let you imagine it.

After Celiac's post of the razor burn I think we are all glad you passed on the horsefly bite? Gorgeous blue and very clever storage. What do you do in your "spare" time?? I'm sure it does feel good to be home after your whirlwind weeks. Doubt you'll settle down much knowing you!
I love your shelves. I may have to do something like that. I'm a little disappointed not to see the bites in person. It was good to see you and I can imagine you are so glad to be home.
