Home again

Well, I obviously made it home. And have been pretty busy since (perhaps not quite so obvious) I have to say the difference in weather was extreme. I left balmy high 70's to low 80s weather and arrived to wind, snow and temperatures with highs in the 30's and lows in the teens. Sheesh! And it hasn't really gotten much better since. Yesterday when I tried to cross the street to go into the school it was a ground blizzard and the wind about knocked me on my rear. And the great news is, there doesn't seem to be an end in sight. (Did you catch the sarcasm there or was it too subtle?)
I did get back in time for the baby shower at Alicia's on Saturday. I had to race to pick up the play n pack at Walmart before I went. And any of you who know me and how much I "LOVE" Walmart on a Saturday mid day will know how excited I was to do that. (did you catch that sarcasm again?) I actually got in and out fairly fast, and rather than a guy honking at me to hurry out of my parking spot when I was unloading felt pretty good about the whole deal.

I made it to the shower pretty much right on time. Woo Hoo! I'm not really a big fan of the whole shower and playing games thing (I'm not sure why?) But it was nice enough and I didn't get into any rumbles over who got the most correct names of baby animals either. Alicia got a lot of very nice things and for Korven's (that's the name they have chosen) first 6 months he's going to be one stylish little guy.
Brianne was there and Dom was VERY well behaved! He is SUCH a cutie. In fact, he was probably better behaved than I was. I did manage to get about 2 or three good pics of him while there. It was pretty difficult as the light in the house was so low that even with the flash they turned out blurry.

After the shower I was supposed to go and pick up a few more things before I headed home. I got into the car and headed down the hill. When I got to the first store and looked for my wallet, Chuck's checkbook and my cell I couldn't find them. They had been loose because I had taken stuff out of my fanny pack/purse for the trip to TX. I started to hyperventilate. I backtracked to Alicia's on the off chance I had left them there. Nope. I couldn't remember putting them back in the car after my hasty exit from the Walmart dash. So...I proceeded to drive post haste (that sounds a little better than with reckless abandon, cursing the entire way). I had pretty much worked myself into the first stages of a coronary by the time of my arrival. I exited the car secure in the knowledge that there wasn't a snowballs chance in Texas of my finding anything.
The first thing I saw was a teen pushing shopping carts out of the exact same stall where I had hurriedly left mine so the impatient honker waiting for my parking space would chill. I rushed over to him and inquired if he had been doing cart duty all day. He responded in the affirmative. I fearfully asked if perchance he had come across a cell, black wallet and checkbook. He said "A green checkbook?" Wonder of wonder, miracle of miracles!!!... He had not only seen them, but had taken them in to the service area. Yeah, somebody had to repent big time. It's amazing how your emotions can swing so rapidly from one extreme to the other and the way it leaves you totally drained. I went in and got back everything and rather than exiting there never to return, promptly purchased a new purse to contain the elusive items.
I'm still not going to say that Walmart is my favorite place to be, but not unlike the Grinch, I think my heart has softened just a tad.....It still gives me the chills thinking of those checks, and credit card just sitting in the cart ripe for the picking. Kind of renews your faith in humanity for a minute or two eh?

All the good Karma came back to help you on this one!
That sick moment of realization is sooo huge. Its amazing what can spin through your mind in such a short time.
I keep losing and forgetting things with regularity these days. I keep telling myself i must slow down, nothing is that important.
Its not helping a lot, but I'm still convinced it will help.

Wow, I hate that sick feeling you get when you lose something like that. I think it's workout due to racing heart. Glad everything turned out and give you some faith in the honest still out there. I think most people are really, but a few make it necessary for us to be paranoid. I hate Walmart on Saturday too. Always so busy and everyone walks slow. I also feel that we are in the land of never-ending winter.

I avoid Walmart at peak times as well...if at all possible. It is such a scary feeling losing yopur wallet. Luckily it turned out ok for you!

Dom is a keeper--wow look at those eyes---what a handsome baby dude!

I agree that it was your goodness and pay back Karma. Hope you gave the teen who found your wallet a hug and called his manager!
