I'm SO Excited!!!

Kelsey is trying to get here to Idaho, by way of Boise. "IF" she makes it - and that could be a big if, given it's summer time and travel can be treacherous, it will be SO much fun to see her and Miss Chloe. I'm hoping she will get to see Brianne and Dom too. There are two flights this evening and both have "some" space on them. So, I'm keeping my fingers crossed and if I had a lucky rabbit's foot I'd be using that too. Is that one of the sickest things ever? I remember as a kid seeing people with rabbit foot key chains, dyed blue, green, read and all sorts of bizarre colors. How can lopping off some poor rabbits foot and packing it around with you be lucky? But, I digress...

So, yesterday we got the carpet installed!!! WooHoo! And not without it's own set of dramatics. We had a piece of 4x8, 3/4inch plywood that had been put down to make the floor level for the new cabinet that goes from the kitchen into the living room. Well, where it met the rest of the floor was 3/4inch above it. They could not install the carpet, as it would void the warranty. So, either we had to lay down flooring for the entire rest of the room or figure out a way to cut around the edge of the new cabinet and take out the rest of the 4x8. Sklyer, the carpet dude, was ready to leave and come back in - oh another 7 weeks. I told him to start on the stairs and I would figure out something...

I made a ton of calls and of course no one was available. I went into Home Depot and shared my dilemma. Long story short - I used my dremel tool and a crazy blade and cut that bugger right off! After that it was smooth sailing. Up to then I was sweating bullets, (or maybe just beebees :0).

Chuck was "supposed" to have the day off and that way would have been available to help, but there was a big inspection that day from the state. And he was already stressed because when he came home from drill in Boise and stopped to check the armory he found a broken water pipe and three rooms flooded. But, it's all good now.
It's AMAZING how much bigger the room looks with a light carpet versus a nearly black one. I love the way it looks. I "hope" I can keep it looking decent as it IS pretty darn light.

So, the photo above is the partially painted wall going downstairs.( I am at school and got here once again with only part of the photos. Sheesh!) Anyway, that photo at least shows what a difference the color makes on that wall and the contrast between the old and new color. I was pretty tentative about changing the color to something so much darker (ask Kelsey, I always go for the light colors). So, this was a pretty big step for me. And I think looks good and it's going to look really great once I get the clock, and pictures up with their black frames.

OK, I'm leaving now. Next trip in I'll have photos of the lovely new carpet and hopefully something on the wall too. Though I'm still not sure how I'm going to get nails in the wall to hang them. In some parts it's about 18 feet up...Hmmmm... suggestions???

so I tried making a blog. It's pretty plain and I'm still working on it, but if you want to check it out, it's at wallymack. Love, Amy

I like the new green wall. That color is really nice and it does make the wood stand out. Nice work! I am excited to see the new carpet. I hope Kels made it to see you but I am sad she couldn't see us. O'well grandmas spoil better than poor aunts/uncles :)

I like the green wall. It is similar to the color Spencer picked out for his room which we painted two weeks ago. We did three walls green and one a sandy color. It looks very nice. It is hard to break out of that "off white" mode. I think it comes from mom. No suggestions for how to hang those pictures. Sounds like another interesting story to come.
